Jaguar Land Rover (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (JLRM) has today launched the all-new Jaguar XF with prices starting from RM450,000 (excluding insurance). The latest model from Jaguar is available in two variants for the Malaysian market – the XF Prestige and XF R-Sport – and represents the continuing renewal of the Jaguar sedan range. The XF is positioned between the XE and the XJ, which is the top of the range.
Speaking at the media preview today, JLRM’s new Managing Director, Datuk Aishah Ahmad, said the latest XF presents an outstanding choice to those who were in the market for a premium business sedan. “The all-new XF has all the trademarks of a Jaguar with its pure form, beautiful lines and silhouette. While it is good to look at, it is even better to drive due to its lightweight aluminium-intensive architecture and near perfect 50:50 weight balance. The all-new XF is indeed a worthy successor of its award-winning predecessor and is set to carry on the legacy,” she said.
Both XF variants are powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with maximum output of 240 ps/340 Nm which flows to the rear wheels through an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift.
With Jaguar’s lightweight aluminium-intensive architecture, the XF’s dynamic, coupe-like design has the proportions, elegant surfaces and lines which define all Jaguar cars. The aluminium architecture makes the new model up to 190 kgs lighter than its predecessor (depending on the variant) while increasing torsional stiffness by up to 28%. It forms the foundation of the car’s impeccable ride, precise handling and superb dynamics.
Aluminium is also used for the double wishbone design at the front, widely considered as the best configuration for the front. It is modelled closely on the F-Type’s suspension, giving precise handling and steering response. Combined with the Integral Link rear suspension and near 50:50 weight distribution, the new XF promises handling prowess.
Both XF variants come with JaguarDrive Control, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), and Torque Vectoring. There’s also All Surface Progress Control which is a low-speed cruise control system that automatically manages the brakes and the throttle to deliver the best possible traction, whatever the weather, gives the driver added confidence in slippery conditions.
The car’s overall length is now 4954 mm and the 2960 mm wheelbase is 51mm longer than before, with a front overhang that is 66 mm shorter. The longer wheelbase means better interior room for the rear occupants and there’s also 27 mm more headroom than before. The sleek shape is also more aerodynamically efficient, now 0.26 Cd which is significantly better than the 0,29 Cd of the previous model.
The cabin displays a seamless blend of contemporary luxury materials and finishes, traditional Jaguar craftsmanship and state-of-the art technology. With features such as a reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster as an option, and the InControl Touch infotainment system, the latest XF is the most connected Jaguar ever.
The Prestige variant comes with features such as 17-inch 15-spoke wheels, perforated leather seats, metal tread plates with Jaguar script and multi-function soft-grain leather steering wheel. The XF R-Sport has a sport suspension, 18-inch Helix 10-spoke wheels. It is fitted with Jaguar’s R-Sport bodykit, R-Sport branded multi-function soft-grain leather steering wheel and R-Sport branded metal tread plates.
The XF comes with Jaguar Care, an exclusive programme that comprises a 5-year warranty, 5 years of free scheduled servicing and 3-year roadside assistance.
