All-new BMW 7 Series now in Malaysia

Posted on: 2016-05-06

BMW Group Malaysia has launched the all-new BMW 7 Series which it has dubbed “the most advanced luxury sedan in its segment”. Available in two long wheelbase variants, the 730Li and 740Li, the sixth generation BMW 7 Series is almost 20mm longer than its predecessor although width and wheelbase remain the same. Its Carbon Core body structure is shared technology from the i8 and i3, and it is the first car in its segment to feature carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), and aluminium and high-strength steel components used in conjunction with magnesium to reduce weight while retaining structural strength. BMW claims this will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to a quarter over the car’s life cycle when combined with its fuel efficient engines.

The 740Li is powered by an all-new aluminium six-cylinder, three-litre twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine that produces 326bhp and 450Nm of torque. Paired with BMW’s signature eight-speed Steptronic gearbox, the acceleration to 100km/h from standstill is 5.5 seconds with a claimed average fuel consumption of 15.2km/L and carbon dioxide emissions of 154g/km.

The 730Li comes with a four-cylinder, two-litre twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 258bhp and 400Nm and goes from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds. Claimed fuel consumption is 17.2km/L and carbon dioxide emissions at 134g/km.

Self-levelling air suspension with Dynamic Damper Control is now standard with Adaptive mode to match vehicle engine and chassis set-up to the current driving style and road conditions as they change. The 740Li comes with Executive Drive Pro, active chassis control and electromechanical active roll stabilisation.

Safety features have been enhanced and now include Driving Assistant Plus with steering and directional control assistant, Lane Departure Warning, active side collision protection, rear collision protection and front cross-traffic warning. The system now operates at speeds up to 210km/h.

Another world first in the luxury segment is the BMW Display Key for the 7 Series which displays various status data for the vehicle and enables operation of selected functions via the integrated Touch Display. Fuel tank level, the current vehicle range, the status of the central locking system, windows and glass roof can all be checked along with service prompts. The key can also be used to activate the air conditioning and ventilation system.

BMW’s ConnectedDrive feature with Intelligent Emergency Call which detects and automatically sends for help in an accident is included.
The BMW 740Li and 730Li are available in Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Mineral White and Sophisto Grey. In additional, the 740Li is available in Imperial Blue while the 730Li is available in Jatoba. Three leather interior colour options are available: Black, Canberra Beige and Cognac. Leather Nappa upholstery is offered for the 740Li while its Leather Dakota for the 730Li.

BMW Group Malaysia is offering RM100,000 off on a limited number of units of both the 740Li and 730Li in conjunction with BMW AG’s 100th anniversary.
