Renault, together with Malaysian distributor TC Euro Cars (TCEC) have announced that the Renault Zoe electric vehicle (EV) is now available for sale in Malaysia, but only in limited numbers. The 2015’s best selling EV car in Europe was introduced in 2012, and is also Renault’s solution to Zero Emission mobility.

Being a pure electric car, the Zoe is powered by a synchronous electric motor that generates 85 hpand 220Nm of torque. The electric motor is paired with an automatic gearbox and utilises a 22kWh lithium-ion battery.

According to Renault, the battery can be fully charged in just four hours (from empty) using the a 7kW fast charger, or nine hours if a default 3.6kW charger is used. Once it’s fully charged, the Zoe has a travelling distance of 220km.

Inside, the Zoe gets a 7-inch Renault R-Link touchscreen display that acts as the Zoe’s Infotainment panel. Interior space is just as you would expect of a supermini, and it gets 338 litres of boot space which can be upped to 1,225 litres with its rear seats folded.

The Zoe is a 5-Star vehicle too, achieving maximum Euro NCAP safety rating back in 2013. This is thanks to the Zoe’s strong body, four airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX mount points.

Available only in Glacier White colour, the Zoe can be yours for RM145,888 OTR with GST, sans insurance. It comes with a 3-year or 100,000km manufacturer’s warranty, five-year electrical powertrain warranty or 100,000km and a five-year traction battery warranty or 100,000km (whichever comes first).

The Zoe’s main competitor hails from the Land of the Rising Sun, the Nissan Leaf, and it’s sold in Malaysia for RM180,566.18. Be sure to check out our review!
