Residents surprised by night road closure

THE CLOSURE of Kuala Lumpur-bound lanes on the SPRINT Highway has Medan Damansara residents surprised as to the lack of discussion.

In order to facilitate MRT works, the closure starting today will continue to Sept 29 from 10pm to 6am daily.
It will force three lanes of traffic, on the highway facing Victoria Station, onto the narrow two-lane Jalan Kasah, before continuing on to Jalan Semantan.

Medan Damansara Residents Association (MDRA) president Jalbir Singh Riar said residents are not against any project.

But said residents are not happy at the lack of forethought in implementing the closures without prior discussions with those affected.

“There was no session by MMC-Gamuda or MRT with at least the MDRA committee.

“We would appreciate if the necessary parties engage with us; there are many alternatives and ways which if they sat down with us we could have discussed together.

“Jalan Kasah is facing a housing area and although there are two lanes, most of the time it turns into one lane people double-parking,” he said.

He added that residents were also not briefed on information such as how the traffic would be diverted and if traffic police would be present.

He suggested alternative routes such as Kerinchi Link or Persiaran Bukit Kiara through Jalan Beringin, instead of going through Jalan Kasah.
