RM4,000 rebate for those who buy a Proton Iriz to offer ride-sharing services

During the 2017 Budget presentation today, the Prime Minister announced a special incentive for those who purchase a new Proton Iriz in order to become ride-sharing drivers. This news was especially significant for the national carmaker as it is the first time the company will be offering a rebate for a collaboration with ride-sharing companies.

In a statement issued tonight, Proton said it welcomes the move and is happy to be working with ride-sharing companies to help and uplift the livelihood of the B40 (those with household income of up to RM3,855) income-earners.

Commending the government for the astute, people-centric budget, the statement said: “The company appreciates and is thankful to the government with its clear objective to support the National Car in its effort to spur the automotive industry as this initiative provides tangible growth and economic opportunities.

“Proton is excited to be part of the ride-sharing industry as the move is seen as a vision to drive Malaysia forward through technological innovation and creating economic opportunities for many in the country,” it added.
