Employers Urged To Register Employees Earning More Than RM4,000 With Socso



SABAK BERNAM, June 2 -- The Human Resources Ministry has asked employers to register their employees earning more than RM4,000 per month with the Social Security Organisation (Socso) once amendments to the Employees' Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) takes effect in the near future.

Its Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib said the move was to ensure employees can enjoy a comprehensive social security protection with a lower monthly contribution rate.

"I admit that there will be a slight increase in operation costs for employers, but it is at a very minimal and reasonable amount," he told reporters after launching the Socso Information programme and presenting RM63,539 aid to 15 Socso contributors, here today.
